In response to overwhelming demand, Impact and MasterCraft Safety have introduced a new ratcheting mechanism for our 16.1 SFI three-inch lap belts. Specifically engineered with extreme racing conditions in mind, Impact and MasterCraft Safety have extensively tested their American-made ratcheting lap belt in both the lab and on the race course through CEO Robbie Pierce's off-road racing efforts in his SCORE Trophy Truck. "Getting the belts tight enough in the heat of battle when off-road racing is very difficult," Pierce explained. "Particularly when getting back in the truck after a tire change or other issue. This ratcheting mechanism allows for a faster and tighter adjustment of the lap belt without any assistance from the co-driver or a crew member."
The ratcheting mechanism is available as an option on any of the Impact or MasterCraft Safety three-inch 16.1 SFI rated lap belts and is the ideal solution for racers wanting a tighter lap adjustment in their race vehicle. Capable of withstanding harsh racing conditions and environments such as back-to-back dirt track events or extreme Baja racing, the ratcheting mechanism is manufactured from heat-treated 4130 chromoly steel and features a double locking design for added safety.
MasterCraft Safety's ratcheting mechanism can be specified for either the left or right side use. Both feature a bolt-in installation on the mechanism side while the opposing side can be customized to the user’s preference with either a snap-in or bolt-in end. The ratcheting mechanism replaces one (left or right, depending on your preference) of the standard lap adjusters allowing the belt to be quickly and easily tightened independently by the competitor, without the assistance of crew members. The mechanism uses a 1/4-inch drive ratchet found in every racer's toolbox for adjustment.

Impact by MasterCraft Safety is Now Your Source For NecksGen Head and Neck Restraints- 11/29/12
Two years ago MasterCraft Safety stunned the entire racing world with their announcement at the International Motorsports Industry Show that they had purchased Impact Race Products. Now Robbie Pierce and the innovative minds at MasterCraft Safety are up to it again with another equally astounding announcement. “With the addition of Impact we supplemented our industry-leading energy attenuating racing seats, restraints, and driving suits with helmets, gloves, shoes, and more. Only one piece of the puzzle was missing… head and neck restraints. The solution? Impact is now your preferred source for the NecksGen head and neck restraint."
Made in Southern California from the latest carbon-fiber composite DuPont® material and weighing in at a mere 1.8 pounds, the Impact NecksGen has achieved superior results in SFI 38.1 testing. Impact takes safety and quality to the next level with its lightweight, simple-to-use Necksgen head restraint unit. The Impact NecksGen features a single adjustable helmet tether that allows energy to be distributed evenly through four load paths for maximum head and neck protection and unique shoulder restraint wings to keep loose harnesses from slipping off under accident conditions.
As the name implies, the Impact NecksGen provides several innovative features that make it the most advanced head and neck restraint system on the market. These include side protection, the ability to accommodate 2-inch and 3-inch wide restraints, and adjustability to customize fitment, and the ability to work with seat angles from 10 to 40 degrees. All of these benefits for a price less than the competition, and quick release hardware is included at no extra charge.
The ultimate safety alliance has been created, capitalizing on the manufacturing and production capabilities of Impact and MasterCraft Safety with the innovative NecksGen. Want to learn more? IMPACT! by MASTERCRAFT SAFETY!!! - 12/1/10
Indianapolis (December 1, 2010) – It was announced at today’s International Motorsports Industry Show in Indianapolis that MasterCraft Safety has acquired Impact! Racing from Bill Simpson, a pioneer and ambassador in motorsports and safety solutions. The brand will be known as Impact! by MasterCraft Safety and will be managed by MasterCraft Safety.
“I am honored that Bill has entrusted me to take his company and safety innovations to the next level under the MasterCraft Safety name,” said MasterCraft Safety CEO, Robbie Pierce. “As a result of the fusion of our companies, we have united the best of both worlds by bringing motorsports such as NHRA and NASCAR together with desert and short-course off-road racing. With Bill staying on as an ambassador and consultant for Impact! Racing by MasterCraft Safety, we will bring racing to a new audience and we hope to convert loyal fans and advocates.”
As the leading manufacturer of performance off-road suspension seating and other vehicle safety equipment for more than 30 years, MasterCraft Safety has always aspired to broaden its product offering. The business-based acquisition immediately fulfills this goal through the addition of Impact! Racing’s footwear, gloves and helmet product lines. Sales, operations and manufacturing will continue to be headquartered at the existing Impact! Racing facilities in Brownsburg, Ind.
“I have loved every moment with this company,” said an emotional Bill Simpson, founder of Impact! Racing. “It’s no secret that I’m getting older. It’s time for me to pass the torch to someone that I know, trust and respect. I knew in my heart that I wanted someone who was as passionate and involved in racing and safety as I have been throughout my career. I can think of no one better than Robbie.”
MasterCraft Safety is an industry-leading international manufacturer and innovator of performance and recreational safety devices, best known for the suspension seats that have nearly become standard issue in the harsh environment of desert racing. In addition, MasterCraft Safety’s diverse product line includes SFI-approved, six-point camlock restraints used in NASCAR, suspension seats used in military response vehicles, and SFI-approved window safety nets and suspension limit straps used for short course racing.
Here's a lengthier version of the press release about the acquisition of Impact! by MasterCraft Safety. We're excited about the direction this will take our company in the years to come.
